Pokemon Go 0.55.0 Update: we are in progress of data mining the new 0.55.0 APK that was released an hour ago. You can find the APK on Apk Fact. Here’s what we’ve found, several Pokemon Go secrets uncovered: new Badge, Shiny Pokemon and… spoilers ahead, Evolution items, new moves and more.
Finally the loading time has been fixed on Android, some features for Apple Watch are added and GO Plus no longer disconnects.
Pokemon Go 0.55.0 Update
The official Pokemon GO team stated that Update 0.55.0 for Android and 1.25.0 for iOS devices was only intended to fix the following issues:
- Resolved Android connectivity issues for the Pokémon GO Plus accessory.
- Integrated iOS wheelchair support for use with Apple Watch.
- Reduced the starting load time on Android devices.
- Minor text fixes.
Possible RAM optimizations:
We see a number of updates that seem to be aimed at a more efficient use of memory / garbage collection (for example, optimization of music and fog).
Pokemon GO + Fixed device
Nothing ambiguous this time, there is a new code for the GO + device that aligns well with the patch notes. This should help many travelers connect easier and re-connect easier.
Four new sponsors!
The new APK shows four new sponsors added in the APK, surprisingly rapidly growing recently:
- HOOD
- STEAMER
- MIXER
- SLOWCOOKER
If you are confused about the names, Niantic has hidden sponsor names using kitchen appliances and food to protect and respect contracts with sponsors.
Introduced entire Unown family + badge
The new APK finally shows how the Unown family will play. The new badge that was added is called Unown Badge and stands for collecting the whole line of the Unown family:
.BADGE_UNOWN
We have already reported on the discovery of Unown in our 0.53.1 APK data mine, so take a look there for more details. There is no information on when the badge will be available.
Shiny Pokemon are here
We have found traces of brilliant code for months already, but we finally have concrete details on how it works and what is measured by the application. The bold parts of the code below are new.
.get_CapturedShiny .set_CapturedShiny .get_EncounteredCostumes .get_EncounteredForms .get_EncounteredGenders .get_EncounteredShiny .set_EncounteredShiny
Obviously, the Pokedex will track the number of Shiny variants encountered of a Pokemon species, in the same way it follows the number of catches and encountered. The same goes for the sexes and the “costumes”. The change here is that Shiny Pokemon is no longer considered a Costume.
Possible new Catch Bonus: Critical Catch
A new bonus / badge has been added, but only a few references point it, so it may as well be an attempt or a reprocessing of an existing features:
.BADGE.CRITICAL_CATCH
Added platform support for Windows and OSX
We’re not sure what that means, but in the supported platform section of the codebase, there are two new entries: Windows and OSX. Is this allusion to a possible Pokemon GO out on the desktop? No, this makes no sense, but it could be a measure to fight bots and GPS spoofers further.
.PLATFORM_UNSET .PLATFORM_IOS .PLATFORM_ANDROID .PLATFORM_OSX .PLATFORM_WINDOWS
New In App Purchase Category: Avatar
In the last APK data mine, we found new options for customizing the trainer, but we reported that we did not know how they would be obtained. Speculation and wishful thinking led us to believe that they will be linked to achievements, but this is not the case: you will soon be able to buy Avatar Trainer customization in the store.
.IAP_CATEGORY_NONE .IAP_CATEGORY_BUNDLE .IAP_CATEGORY_ITEMS .IAP_CATEGORY_UPGRADES .IAP_CATEGORY_AVATAR .IAP_CATEGORY_POKECOINS
We’re quite disappointed.
Uknown Badge
A new badge appeared in the code! This time, just for Uknown – which makes a ton of sense, if you ask us, because there is a ton of them!
