Xposed framework of the fans have something to celebrate today. After weeks of saying you support for Android 6.0 marshmallow approached increasingly rovo89 developer has finally released version 77, with full compatibility marshmallow.
For those who have no idea what part Xposed is: it is a tool for root users, allowing them to customize various elements of the system and the user interface. I find it is best for those who do not want a complete change of experience, but rather change a few things here and there.
All the user has to install Xposed is a custom recovery and a rooted phone (of course). As always, there are some things to consider, however. Keep in mind that rooting and tinker with your phone may harm your device and / or void the warranty, so be very careful and spend a good deal of time to do your research.
With this in mind, the developer has some comments that you should keep in mind. They are there:
- I have tested this with SuperSU installed, due to which dm-verity and certain SELinux rules are disabled. Especially dm-verity would certainly conflict with the changes to the system partition.
- Access to preference files can be blocked by SELinux, and Xposed is not currently able to work around this. (*) Some modules could be affected by this, however, I strongly recommend keeping SELinux enabled and the application to keep your device as safe as possible.
- I could not test all API Xposed. The system starts without any error message Xposed, but some functions that the framework makes available might still need to be adjusted to marshmallow.
- Obviously, the modules themselves could be updated as well, due to changes in AOSP. Please be patient and give the module developers time to make the necessary changes. If you absolutely “can not live” without X module does not update marshmallow again.
- Some issues could result from JIT (disabled by default, even in AOSP) and the compiler “optimization” (which rewrites the application code to be more efficient, thanks to which certain calls could be simply ignored). Two of them are new in the marshmallow and could have various effects in combination with Xposed, hooks that silence does not work accidents. However, as it is a stable working for me, I decided not to turn off and will instead examine in more detail whether the concrete issues are reported.
In addition, some reports say some Samsung phones and Sony on the stock software having problems with bootlooping. With that in mind, try to be careful and make a backup before doing anything. Happy flashing!
