Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 888+ processor, which appears to be an overclocked version of the current Snapdragon 888 processor. Promising higher frequency speed and artificial intelligence processing performance, the processor will power the flagships for the rest of the year.
Qualcomm, which is the number one processor manufacturer in the smartphone industry, announced the Snapdragon 888+ (Snapdragon 888 Plus) processor, which will power almost all flagships that will appear in the second half of the year. The processor, which has similar features to the current Snapdragon 888 model, promises a noticeable improvement in CPU and artificial intelligence performance.
To start with the similarities; Both processors rely on the 840 MHz Adreno 660 GPU for graphics. Other common features include 200MHz LPDDR5 4x 16-bit CH memory support, 14-bit Spectra 580 ISP, 200 MP support, 8K 30 FPS/4K 120 FPS video recording support, X60 5G modem, Samsung 5 nm manufacturing process.
When we look at the differences between the two processors, we see that the frequency speed of the Cortex-X1 core , which enables smartphones to reach the maximum performance level, has been increased from 2.84 GHz to 2.995 GHz . The frequency rate of other cores remains the same. In addition, the processing power of the Hexagon 780 NPU has been increased from 26 TOPS AI to 32 TOPS AI .
So what exactly do these differences mean? Smartphones with Snapdragon 888+ processors will perform almost the same as smartphones with Snapdragon 888 processors in standard daily use . The difference will only show up in situations that require a lot of processing power, a difference that most users will not easily notice.
