While you are chatting with friends on Skype, or to make video recordings, you’ll need a good microphone. However, each computer comes with a built-in microphone. If you happen to need a microphone on your computer, but for some reason you do not, your Android device can is very convenient. You can use it as a wireless microphone via WiFi or Bluetooth, or connect to your computer via a USB cable.
To turn your Android device into a microphone, you will need to install a small application called WO Mic on your Android phone. This application supports three connectivity options, USB, WiFi and Bluetooth. Here are the steps on how you can use your Android device as a microphone with Mic Wo app.
Pre-requisites
- Download and install Wo Mic device driver as well the client program on your computer. (When installing the driver, make sure your PC is connected to internet; otherwise, it may fail to install.)
- Download and install Wo Mic app on your Android device.
Use android phone as microphone USB Connection
If you want to connect via USB, follow these steps:
- Launch WO Mic app on your android Phone.
- Go to Settings -> Transport and select “USB”.

- Now back to the main menu and click/tap ‘Start’ to start the service.
- Connect your android phone to computer via USB cable.
- Launch WO Mic Client program on your PC.
- Select Connection -> Connect then choose ‘USB’ and click OK.
Wait a moment and the client must be logged in. You can now use your Android device for recording or chating on your PC.

Use android phone as microphone Bluetooth connection
If you want to connect via bluetooth, follow these steps:
- Open WO Mic application.
- Go to Settings -> Transport and choose ‘Bluetooth’.
- Turn ‘ON’ Bluetooth on your Android phone and PC
- Connect the two devices
- Press “Start” to start the WO Mic
- Run WO Mic client program
- Select Connection -> Connect. Select “Bluetooth” and you can see that your device is automatically selected. If it is not in the list and check if they are properly matched.
- Once done, click OK and enjoy the mic.

Use android phone as microphone WiFi connection
If you want to connect via wifi, follow these steps:
- Launch WO Mic app on your Android phone
- Go to Settings -> Transport and choose ‘Wifi’.
- Turn on WiFi on your phone and PC. (Note: Make sure your computer and your Android device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network for the application to work.)
- Now press “Start” in the main menu and should see an IP address appear on the screen. Note the IP address provided.
- Launch WO Mic Client program on your PC.
- Select Connection -> Connect. Choose ‘Wifi’ and enter the IP address that you’ve noted down.
- Once you’re done, click OK.

This app is very simple, but handy, especially if you are a busy person in terms of online chat or a frequent user of Skype. In terms of compatibility, there is a setback, because this application supports only Windows PCs, but hopefully a new cross-platform version will be developed in the coming months.
This app is really sophisticated and complete to meet all your possible needs of PC, but it sure is a good thing to have for emergencies.
