In Android 5.x and below, to access your running apps list was simple jump-in Settings > Apps > Running. Easy! In Android 6.0, however, Google offers this setting. It is still not super hard to find, but it’s a little trickier. But as always, we back. Here’s how to find once your device is on Marshmallow (or later).

How to Access Android’s Running Apps List

Why would you need to access services running?

Well, there is a short answer: you normally wouldnt which is probably why Google “hidden” from this setting Marshmallow. But there are, however, some situations where you might need to jump into the race Services menu and start looking around.

Above all others, the main reason you might need to see what happens behind the scenes is if an app misbehaves. This means many things: perhaps it is constantly forcing the closure and want to kill the process, maybe there is just something to chew through battery. Anyway, knowing where to look is always the beginning of a good investigation.

Where Running services in Android 6.0

As I mentioned earlier, the Android 5.x and below, you can see what was going on by jumping into Settings> Applications> Running. This shows both the processes and services running, as well as the amount of memory (RAM) is used by the system and applications, as well as the amount is still available.Access Android’s List of Running Apps in 6.0 Marshmallow

To find the same menu in Marshmallow, you must first enable the options for developers. To do this, in Parameters, then About Phone.Access Android’s List of Running Apps in 6.0 Marshmallow 2

Once there, find the section that info the software will be a separate entrance on some phones (Samsung, LG), but not on others, such as Nexus. You are looking for the version number, so you may have to search a bit before finding it. The first two images below were taken from the Samsung Galaxy S7, and the last of the Nexus 6P. When you found, press seven times. You’ll see a toast notification letting you know how much is left until “you become a developer.” Once he was tapped seven times, a new menu will be unlocked just above About phone from the main menu Settings.Access Android’s List of Running Apps in 6.0 Marshmallow 4

Back in the settings, the head in Developer options. (See here’s How to Enable developer options on Android). You should see “current services” a little later in this menu which is what you want. Once you press “services Running,” you should be presented with a familiar screen, it is exactly the same as Lollipop. This does not mean something that you should need to enter often, if ever at all. Still, it’s good to know where to find it just in case you need to, but as the menu where it is now found suggests, what is really for developers.
