How to Use Bixby Text Call on Samsung Galaxy Phones

Samsung Galaxy phones are known for their advanced features that make everyday tasks more convenient. One such feature is Bixby Text Call, which allows users to make calls without having to dial a phone number. With Bixby Text Call, you can simply send a text message to Bixby with the name of the person you want to call, and Bixby will initiate the call for you.

What Is Bixby Text Call on Samsung Phones?

Bixby Text Call is a feature on Samsung Galaxy phones that allows you to initiate phone calls using voice commands in the Samsung Messages app. With Bixby Text Call, you can type the name of the person you want to call, followed by the word “call”, and then activate Bixby Text to initiate the call. This feature is especially useful when you’re driving or otherwise unable to use your hands to dial a phone number.

Bixby Text Call works by using Samsung’s Bixby virtual assistant to recognize the voice command you speak into the text field. Once Bixby recognizes the command, it initiates the call for you. This feature is available on most Samsung Galaxy phones, although it may not be available in all countries or with all phone carriers.

Note that Bixby Text Call is different from Bixby Voice Call, which allows you to initiate calls using voice commands spoken directly to your phone’s microphone. Bixby Voice Call is activated by saying “Hi, Bixby” or pressing the Bixby button on the side of your phone.

How to Enable and Use Bixby Text Call

To enable and use Bixby Text Call on your Samsung Galaxy phone, follow these steps:

  1. Set up Bixby Voice and Text by launching the Bixby app on your phone and following the on-screen instructions to set up your voice profile.
  2. Enable Bixby Text in the Samsung Messages app by tapping the three dots in the top right corner of the screen, scrolling down to the Bixby section, and toggling on the Bixby feature.
  3. Enable Bixby Text Call in the Bixby settings by tapping the three dots in the top right corner of the Bixby app, selecting “Voice wake-up”, and toggling on the “Text to speech” and “Bixby Text Call” options.
  4. Open the Samsung Messages app and compose a new message.
  5. Type the name of the person you want to call, followed by the word “call”, in the message field.
  6. Activate Bixby Text by tapping the Bixby button on the side of your phone.
  7. Bixby will read back the name of the person you want to call and ask you to confirm whether you want to initiate the call. You can respond by saying “yes” or “no”, or by tapping the appropriate button on the screen.
  8. If you confirm that you want to initiate the call, Bixby will initiate the call for you.

How Bixby Text Call Helps Avoid Spam Calls

Bixby Text Call can help you avoid spam calls by allowing you to initiate calls only to people in your contacts list. Since Bixby Text Call requires the name of the person you want to call to be typed into the message field and that person’s phone number to be saved in your contacts list, it provides an extra layer of protection against spam calls.

Spam calls are often made by automated systems that generate random phone numbers to call. If you receive a call from an unknown number and suspect that it may be a spam call, you can use Bixby Text Call to initiate a call to that number without actually calling it. Simply type the number into the message field, followed by the word “call”, and activate Bixby Text. If the number is not in your contacts list, Bixby will be unable to initiate the call.

Additionally, Bixby Text Call can help you avoid accidentally calling the wrong number, which can be a common problem when using voice commands to initiate calls. Since Bixby Text Call requires you to type in the name of the person you want to call, you can double-check that you have the correct person selected before initiating the call.

Overall, Bixby Text Call provides a convenient and secure way to initiate phone calls on your Samsung Galaxy phone, while also helping to prevent spam calls and accidental dialing.

Use Bixby Text Call to Deter Spammers

While Bixby Text Call can’t completely prevent spam calls from reaching your phone, it can be a useful tool to deter spammers and block their numbers. Here are some ways to use Bixby Text Call to deter spammers:

  1. Use Bixby Text Call to initiate calls only to people in your contacts list. Since spammers often use fake or unfamiliar numbers, you can use Bixby Text Call to avoid calling these numbers by accident. If you receive a call from an unfamiliar number, try using Bixby Text Call to initiate a call to that number before adding it to your block list.
  2. Use Bixby Text Call to add numbers to your block list. If you receive a call from a spammer, you can use Bixby Text Call to initiate a call to that number and add it to your block list. To do this, simply type the number into the message field, followed by the word “call”, and activate Bixby Text. When prompted to initiate the call, say “no” and then block the number from the call log.
  3. Use Bixby Text Call to report spam calls. Some carriers and phone manufacturers allow you to report spam calls using Bixby Text Call. To do this, type the number of the spammer into the message field, followed by the word “report”, and activate Bixby Text. When prompted to initiate the call, say “yes” and then follow the prompts to report the spam call.

By using Bixby Text Call to deter spammers and block their numbers, you can help keep your phone safe from unwanted calls. However, keep in mind that Bixby Text Call relies on your phone’s internet connection and may not be available in all countries or with all phone carriers. Additionally, it’s always a good idea to be cautious when receiving calls from unfamiliar numbers and to never share personal or financial information over the phone.

Conclusion:

Bixby Text Call is a great feature that can save you time and effort when making calls on your Samsung Galaxy phone. By following the steps outlined above, you can easily set up and use Bixby Text Call to make calls with just a few simple text messages. So, give it a try and see how much easier it can make your life!
